Liz MacEwan

Liz MacEwan has been established as a superb Vocalist on our music scene for many years, her charismatic personality and adaptable voice earning her respect all over the country. Starting in Tiffany’s Nightclub Edinburgh, way back in the 70’s with the Band of Gold she has sung all types of Music all over the world, including a tour of the Middle East with Demis Roussos and entertaining in the U.S. Army Bases in West Germany! This has given her a vast repertoire of songs from all genres.

As well as maintaining a busy schedule of freelance gigs, she featured alongside Scotland’s famous Blues legend Tam White and the Dexters for four years, in the 80’s, working closely with him on his various albums and BBC Radio live sessions. Liz has also worked with Scottish band Runrig as a backing singer, and has toured with legend Van Morrison.

She has appeared many times in the Edinburgh International Jazz Festival, and some years ago had sell-out audiences for her "Tribute to Peggy Lee" show, staged at various Edinburgh venues. An experienced professional, Liz has broadcast many times on BBC Radio Scotland, with a variety of ensembles.

After a time working aboard the luxury liner QE2, Liz returned to her home town of Edinburgh in 1990 and has ”been in demand” throughout Scotland since. In the last year Liz and her pianist, have entertained the diners at The Dome, Centotre and Café Grande in the City and recently completed a successful six month residency at the Balmoral Hotel in Princes Street. Since December 2005 Liz has been received warmly by the Aberdonians at a new Piano Bar and Nightclub, The Albyn, in the Granite City, where she can sing her wide repertoire accompanied by a piano player on their white Baby Grand. Liz has also become a favourite at the Jamhouse venue in Edinburgh playing with the Jack Finlay Trio and most recently has been singing with the Frank Holden Experience….an 18 piece Big Swing Band…made up of the cream of Glasgow’s horn players and musicians.

She is available for all types of events….from intimate parties… Weddings….Corporate functions…background music …and can tailor her repertoire and band members to suit!
